  • Engineering a maximum power point tracking controller for a wind turbine

Session 2, 3h

Wind Resources

  • Introduction of mechanisms that affect a wind farm's Annual Energy Production (AEP)
  • Basic driving mechanisms for wind (global and local processes)
  • Differences between micro and mesoscale modeling
  • Potential errors identification in the setup of mesoscale and microscale models
  • Principles, assumptions, and limitations behind a wind atlas (e.g., Global Wind Atlas or regional wind atlases)
  • AEP calculation for sites and wind farms
  • Meteorological time series analysis of mean wind and directions
  • Wind farm layouts selection based on local conditions

Training methodology

The agenda will combine presented materials with plenty of opportunities for Q&A, interactive discussions, and the use of quantitative models to illustrate key learning points. Current market examples and data are utilized wherever helpful.
